Shriver Serves On The USS South Dakota |
An American Democratic politician and activist, "Sargent", Shriver is best known as part of the Kennedy family, the driving force behind the creation of the Peace Corps, and the Democratic Party's replacement candidate for U.S. vice president in 1972. Shriver volunteered for the United States Navy in December of 1941. He spent five years in active duty, rising to the rank of lieutenant and served on the Battleship USS-South Dakota beginning in 1942. "Personal Documentaries" utilizes oral history taking techniques combined with creative use of personal photos, music, and title graphics to create a memorable presentation. This style of documentary provides an interesting viewpoint of "couples'" varying perspectives of mutual experiences.
This video concept was originally implemented for a couple's 50th wedding anniversary. The title, "It Ain't All Onions & Radishes," originated from a comment made by the husband about his love for onions and radishes and how their ill effect would, at times, annoy his loving wife.
Perhaps the true message is that even though 50 years of sharing a life together can produce a few "Onions & Radishes" moments, a loving, lifelong relationship is well worth it. |
